Sucks to be Yu

March 8, 2015

Well, it sucks to be all of us, given the new emphasis on starting pitching in the league, because it opens us up to more injury risk. Consider:

–Hunter Pence breaks an arm, is out 6-8 weeks, and it was the biggest non-A-Rod news of the Spring (pre-Darvish).

–Paul Goldschmidt was hit in the hand on August 1st last year and was missing six weeks regardless, but got shut down with the Snakes nowhere near the playoffs.

–Yu Darvish thought he had a sore triceps…looking like TJS, see Yu in 12-18 months.

But Darvish is only the latest in a long, long line of stars, regulars, and prospect pitchers to blow up or strain the ulnar collateral ligament. How long? Well…

Selected 2014: Hochevar, Beachy, Medlen, Corbin, Bruce Rondon, David Hernandez, Parnell, Josh Johnson, Nova, Griffin, Jose Fernandez, Arroyo, Tanaka (rehab), Skaggs.

Oh is that all? Well, no, click the link, it’s not all by any stretch.

And now we need to wade deeper into this pool of risk.

Betting Proposition for you, even money:

At least 4 of the top 6 teams in the league will, at some point in 2015, have rostered a player that will have had TJS between Draft Day and October 1. (Injury not necessarily while on their roster.)

Think about it/get in touch.
