While political figures drop by here to guest blog now and then, we’ve never actually endorsed a political candidate here at GCBL Blog. (Kim Jong-Un says he doesn’t need our endorsement, as last time out he won 141% of the popular vote.) Well, that ends here because Bill Lee is running for Governor of Vermont on the Liberty Union ticket.

Lest you think Liberty Union are a bunch of goddamn kooks, well, maybe they are–but that’s where Bernie Sanders started his career in the 70s, and he’s done OK.

Yes, he ran for the Presidency under the Rhinoceros banner in 1988 (the party is best known for seeking to repeal the Law of Gravity) but Spaceman is slightly more serious this time. The ex-Expos, Red Sox, and Moncton Mets may or may not still think the Yankees are Nazis.

More highlights:

“If things don’t go our way, if we get Trump as president, I’m out of here,” Lee told the station. “And I’ll take Vermont with us.”

“You get what you pay for. If you want change, you vote for Sanders or me. I’m Bernie-heavy, I’m not Bernie-lite. My ideas were before Bernie,” Lee told WCAX.com. “If you want to see money come down from the 2 percent, we’re going to need umbrellas when I’m elected, because it’s going to be raining dollars.”

Lee described himself as a “pragmatic, conservative [WTF?!?!–Ed], forward thinker” and criticized American greed.

Oh, and Republicans are pterodactyls:
